~Carolyn Brazil~
YOAKUM: Carolyn Vern Brazil, 71, entered her sunset, Thursday, April 4, 2024. She was born March 16, 1953 in Yoakum to the late Charles Williams and Annie Brazil. Carolyn went to school in Yoakum where she met Van Johnson Murphy Jr. and they had two children, Kirk and Jacqueline. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and mother figure to many in her community. Carolyn was a strong, independent, determined woman that could be very out spoken but spoke with truth and love for others. She worked at Steven’s Nursing Home for 33 years until her retirement. Everyone loved and respected her. She loved going to bingo and she loved to dance. She will be truly missed by everyone. Survivors are her daughter, Jacqueline Brazil Waligura of Yoakum; daughter-in-law, Melanie Brazil of Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Christopher Waligura, Kadeem Waligura, Brandon Prince, Da”Rell Overton, Jordan Dailies, Tavious Brazil and Malik Brazil; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews, Melvin Brown, Darryl Brown and Troy Brazil; numerous extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Williams and Annie Brazil; son, Kirk Evans Brazil; brother, Melvin Brazil. Memorial Service 2 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home.
