~J'Net Brewer~

YOAKUM: J’Net Means Brewer, 96, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born April 19, 1930, in Stratton to Hughie and Fannie (Morrow) Means.

J’Net graduated from Yoakum High School in May of 1947 and married Leslie Damon Brewer on August 7, 1948. Damon and J’Net were married and best friends for 72 years. They are now reunited and dancing in Heaven. Their greatest achievements were their five children and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

J’Net was known for her beautiful smile and as someone who never met a stranger. She was always there for anyone that needed help. She was an idol and hero to the Means and Brewer families and was a person everyone turned to.

When J’Net was raising her children, she kept children in her home and at Kid’s Korral. Many now adults in Yoakum and across Texas shared their childhoods with her as the best babysitter (GG) they ever had.

Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn Faulkner (Rick Holt), Kathy Long (Randall Arndt) and Karen Henderson (Lynny); son, Kevin Brewer (Tana); 10 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margaret Mazar, Dolores Means, Patsy Means, and Mildred Brewer; numerous extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Hughie and Fannie Means; husband, Leslie Damon Brewer; son, Kip Alan Brewer; brothers, John Everett Means, Kenneth Means, Murry Means and Carl Means.

Visitation 4 p.m. with Rosary recited at 6 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. A grand birthday party had been planned for this day but instead we will rejoice and celebrate her goodness, thanking God for her love and guidance in our lives.

Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating. Private burial to follow at a later date.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Hughie Long, Holly Long, Heath Long, Cody Brewer, Damon Faulkner and Kyle Brewer. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Leslie Driver, Megan Clontz, Victoria Henderson and Sarah Henderson. In memory of their grandfather, each grandchild will wear one of the ties that their grandfather wore every Sunday to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar Society.
