~Ramon "Dal" LaBaume~

MOULTON: Ramon "Dal" LaBaume, 89, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 10, 1937, to Loyal Val and Myrtle (Deanie) Cordelia (Seal) LaBaume.

He became an oil company executive and later became a cattle rancher, with a lifelong entrepreneurial spirit that led him to many successful business ventures.

He married Sue Lynn Ramey in Ingleside, Texas, in 1960, and was in love with her every single day since. They shared quite a journey together and built a family and a home that was the center of everything Dal held dear. Sue will forever miss hearing the words he never forgot to say every day — "I sure love you."

Family was everything to him. He was a loving father with stern discipline and a teacher of extraordinary work ethics; upon that foundation, his grandchildren were raised, and when the time comes, those same values will carry forward to his great-grandchildren. Dal was immensely proud of the success of his children and truly lit up telling anyone who would listen about their various accomplishments.

But what Dal was really the best at was his love for each of his grandchildren. The grandkids were picked up for visits and met halfway when he came to Houston. They were welcome to stay one week or maybe six — it didn't matter. There was ice cream stops and fried chicken on the way home to the farm, where he and Grammy truly loved having them (all). As the grandchildren grew older, Dal was always there to talk through decisions and take them in as young adults, or simply talk to them about "how much rain" they had. Every single grandchild of Dal LaBaume loved him dearly, each with their own fun and hysterical story about "Gramdad," as he was famously named by Ryan — and it just stuck!

Dal LaBaume was a provider, a patriarch, and loved by his family. He was a big man with a big heart, and the world is quieter without him.

Survivors: wife, Sue Lynn LaBaume of Moulton; sons, Russ LaBaume (Christina) of Huntsville, Texas and Scott LaBaume (Anne) of Houston, Texas; daughter, Laura Young (Tony) of Chatsworth, Georgia; brothers, Ronnie (Sandra) LaBaume of Corpus Christi and Dwayne (Pearly Ann)  Bushong of Corpus Christi; sister, Beth Bushong  Butler of Lockhart; eleven grandchildren: Christopher, Justin (Janell), Travis, Emily, Torry (Markus), Alexx (Matt), Jonathan (Ellie), Ryan, Lynsey, Alison (Wyatt), and Meredith; four great-grandchildren: Ellie, Tate, Wesley, and Reverie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Elliott LaBaume; sisters, Dianna Blumrick, Shirley Orem, and Linda Willis; and brother, Bill St. Clair.
