~Georgia Petering~
HOUSTON: Georgia Ann Petering, age 84, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, exactly ten years after the death date of her husband, Gary. She was born in Sweet Home, TX, on May 18, 1941, to William and Justina Kocian Pekar. She spent much of her early life in Yoakum, TX, where she grew up and met her childhood sweetheart and future husband, Gary Lee Petering. The two later made their home in Houston, TX, where they built their life together and welcomed their only child, Troy Lee Petering. Georgia is survived by her son, Troy Lee Petering; her daughter-in-law, Mary Astor Petering; her grandson, Thorin Lee Petering; and Thorin’s Godfather, Charlie Proschko and his wife Janet; her sister, Beatrice Tobola of Victoria, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents; husband, Gary Petering; brothers, Edward Pekar and Gene Pekar; sisters, Leona Proschko and Henrietta Srubar. Visitation 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, 1477 Carl Ramert Drive, Yoakum, TX 77995. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 401 Orth St., Yoakum, TX 77995, with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating.
