~Hazel Pfeil~
SHINER: Willie Hazel (Bannert) Pfeil, 95, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was born October 14, 1930, in Shiner, TX to the late Louis Anton and Elsie (Linbrugger) Bannert. Hazel married the love of her life, Edmund (E.W.) Pfeil, Jr. and they made their home in Shiner. Hazel worked as an LVN Nurse for 50 years and retired in 1997 from Yoakum Community Hospital. She worked for Wagner Hospital in Shiner, Nix Hospital in San Antonio, Huth Memorial Hospital in Yoakum, and Yoakum Community Hospital. After retirement, Hazel volunteered at Accolade Hospice, and she worked more than 7000 hours in the hospital gift shop and embroidered kitchen towels as a Yoakum Hospital Auxiliary member. She was also a member of the Shiner Heritage Quilters and also the Red Hatters. Hazel was on the committee of the Father Charles Kram Project having known and worked at Huth Memorial Hospital with Father Kram for many years. Hazel was a devoted and active member of Shiner Baptist Church, Shiner, Texas. Survivors; daughter, Lisa Hoepken (Nathan) of Marquez, TX; son, Carl Pfeil (Kim) of Granbury; grandchildren; Melanie Easterling (Derek) of San Antonio, Sherry Stevenson (James) of Weatherford, Todd Pfeil (Shadonna) of Granbury, Londa Kelly of Bossier, Louisiana, and Misty Knight of Granbury; Thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Laverne Madala and Eileen Skarda; brother, Louis Bannert, Jr., and an infant brother, Eddie Lee Bannert. Visitation: 9 a.m., followed by Memorial Service at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Yoakum, Texas with Pastor Jay Fleming of Shiner Baptist Church officiating.
