~Erick Rivas Gomez~

YOAKUM: Erick V. Rivas Gomez, age 45, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026.

He was born July 24, 1980 in El Salvador to Vicente Rivas Reyes and Mix Carolina Guadalupe Gomez Rivas.

Erick was an auto technician for E & L Services, a friend to many, and Pastor at Primera Baptist Church in Yorktown. Erick enjoyed fishing and studying history; his biggest passions were sharing and teaching about Christ. He found it essential to live by John 3:30 and let everyone know to “seek the Lord while you are young". He considered it the biggest honor in life to be able to serve Christ and be a father to his children.

Survivors: wife, Lola Rivas; mother, Mix Carolina Guadalupe Gomez Rivas; daughter, Hannah Rivas; sons, Aldo Rivas, Oscar Rivas, Robert Rivas, and Erick Rivas; sister, Soraya Rivas Gomez; and brothers, Jose Gomez and Carlos Gomez.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Ivan E. Rivas Gomez.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home with Pastor Guy Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Yoakum Oak Grove Cemetery.
